Abstract
Rectocele is a ballooning or herniation of the anterior rectal and the posterior vaginal
wall into the lumen of the vagina which acts as a deposition site for feces, causing
difficulty of fecal expelling. The rectocele is readily identifiable by digital examination,
but has received scant attention from anorectal surgeon.
MATERIAL AND METHOD
Nine patients were porous women and mean age was 37.2 years. Transvaginal repair
was performed in symptomatic 4 Patients, initial conservative management with
correction of bowel habit is advised. The surgical technique employed was
a
modification of the procedure described by Capps and Takano.
RESULTS
Three of four patients were judged to have excellent (totally asymptomatic) results,
one patient is fair(slight improvement).
